Interview with Cassidy Reyne
What was the inspiration for Saving Her?
The inspiration for Saving Her was a dream I had many years ago. I immediately thought it would make the kind of book I would love to read, but I was convinced I couldn’t write one. So, for the next 10 years, I developed the story in my head. The main event stayed the same, but the characters, names, and smaller details changed, until I decided to try and stick to a storyline. It was still in my head until February last year. My daughter had gone back to college in Australia, my son was busy with school and spent most of his spare time at the girlfriend’s and even though I help with our business I still had a lot of spare time to think about what to do in the future. Empty nest syndrome, I guess. So, I decided to finally put my story in writing. It scared the hell out of me and I had to keep reminding myself I didn’t have to show it to anyone. I had to tell my husband eventually as he started to wonder what I was working on that I kept hidden from him.
What are you currently working on?
I’m now working on the third draft of the follow up; Saving Him, and hope to have it out before the middle of June. I also started on a stand-alone during CampNaNoWrimo that I will keep working on for the next few months. After that, I have a several ideas for some other stand-alones and also the bare bones of a short story. I’m not sure where it will take me, but I’m excited to keep going.
Why did you decide to be an indie writer?
As I needed this to be my own work in every way, I decided to publish independently on Amazon, so I could keep complete control of every aspect. I’m not doing it for the money, I just need to write.
